North Carolina is one of those lucky states with a great diversity of climate to enjoy from the ever popular coastal plains to the spectacular Great Smoky Mountains which show us the rain forest side of things. TMI works closely with mountain communities, combininb local and indigenous knowledge with the latest science to develop practical conservation solutions. But I will take a camera because if there’s something interesting, I’ll shoot it and share it and, in some way, work it to help promote my shop and brand so that I can keep on going on bike rides and feeding myself.

Cross-country (also called XC) mountain biking takes place on pretty easy terrain. I am fortunate in that my working life has allowed me to spend considerable periods of time over many years living in remote areas, predominantly the Arctic. The location was along Turkey Creek, Battle Flat and the north side of Towers Mountain.

We recently obtained government authorization to expand our tenure to create the world’s largest backcountry mountain biking operating area-over 1.5 millions acres. The owner of the bike and his wife work there (and they work other jobs in the area to make ends meet for them and their three kids).
